Capital of Aquitaine crossed by the Garonne, Bordeaux is the second city in France for its monuments classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by a number of internationally known or more confidential wine appellations, this megalopolis attracts every year many visitors in search of culinary and gastronomic discovery.
We take you to this region, which is very difficult to reduce to a typicity in terms of wines and in terms of landscapes. Let’s try to give you some tips to live your stay in the most Bordeaux way. And of course our team is also there to help and advise you in the organization of your stay.
- Discover the vineyards of Bordeaux by bike…
The Bordeaux vineyard lends itself perfectly to the cultivation of the vine with gravelly soils (hence the name of the graves), its proximity to the ocean and its small rivers that flow and give exceptional terroirs like that of the Sauternes. This region loves white grape varieties (such as sauvignon blanc and muscadelle) which make it an appellation in its own but it is especially for its red grape varieties (cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc) that we know the wines of Bordeaux. Whether on the left bank or the right bank, the vast majority of the wines are blended wines. By bike, you will have the chance to enjoy flat terrain (a chance for your calves) and discover the must-see Bordeaux castles.
Itineraries are proposed to follow the wine routes of Bordeaux, do not hesitate!
- Prepare your stay!
Not every castles are open to the public, do not think that you can visit the Cheval Blanc castle by knocking on the door…. It doesn’t work like that, at least for the most reputable domains. This is also why we are here to advise you and open the doors of a domain you have always dreamed of visiting (attention we are not God either, if the domain does not offer any visits, we will not be able to open the doors to you but we can find you an equivalent domain and accepting to receive you).
On the other hand, in lesser-known appellations, you will find many jewels in open access and at a lower cost: for example the AOP Bordeaux or Côtes de Blaye, Côte de Bourg, Entre deux mers for its whites… ). Numerous appellations open their doors to you !
To 🍷 on site : left bank, right bank, between two seas, you’ll be spoilt for choice and that’s why having an idea of what you want to discover is better not to get lost in the diversity of Bordeaux appellations.
