Camille Cluny, wine maker in Côte de Nuits
This young thirty-year-old, a graduate in international business, joined her sister Léa after several experiences abroad at Domaine Cluny, the family estate where they spent their entire childhood. Accompanied by Edward, Léa’s husband, the two young sisters take care of the seven hectares of vines of the estate, founded by Charles Cluny, which has been the property of the Cluny family for six generations. As often in Burgundy and Côte de Nuits in particular, this strip of vines between Beaune and Dijon, the plots of Domaine Cluny cover several appellations. Planted with pinot noir and chardonnay, the land of the estate is distributed among the villages of Brochon and Chambolle-Musigny, over eight different appellations, including several very prestigious climates:
- Premiers Crus : AOC Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux, AOC Chambolle-Musigny Les Noirots, AOC Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes
- appellations Villages : AOC Côte de Nuits Les Créoles, AOC Gevrey-Chambertin
- appellations régionales : AOC Bourgogne blanc, AOC Bourgogne rouge, AOC Crémant de Bourgogne.
The two sisters also created an offer of accommodation by setting up a cottage with 4 bedrooms in an old family house surrounded by vineyards and located in the heart of the historic village of Brochon, close to the first plots classified in Gevrey-Chambertin. The spirit: stone walls, large fireplace, enclosed garden, antique furniture and contemporary decor. Dijon is only 12 km away, Beaune is 25 km away and the mythical villages of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Gevrey-Chambertin or Fixin, high places of wine tourism, are even closer. The clientele is often family, a good part from Paris or Lyon.

« Generally, I recommend the restaurant Au Clos Napoléon, located in Fixin, to all those who come to Burgundy for the first time. The cuisine offers a lot of regional specialties: Burgundy snails with parsley butter, perfect eggs, homemade parsley ham, beef cheek… And the wine list is absolutely gigantic with hundreds of regional references! I also recommend La Maison des Cariatides, in Dijon ((N.D.L.R. it was sold but the chefs just started at Rôtisserie du Chambertin). It is a very creative address, which has already been rewarded by the Michelin Guide, with a very good value for money. However, the owners have just changed: so I am very curious about the future!»

« Three addresses, all in Dijon, ten minutes from the estate. Chez Bruno first, a rather raw but very friendly wine bar. A lot, a lot of references. A lot of personality also in the boss as in the selection of wines, often atypical, and what is needed for cold cuts or farm cheese, always chosen from small producers.
I also enjoy La Fine Heure, a wine bar that also has a wine cellar with regional cuisine and a rather eclectic but still very interesting wine list. And finally, I would also like to quote La Buvette des Halles, in the halls of Dijon as its name suggests. The place is a must and taste, at the end of its market, a glass of white wine with oysters or pods is a must!»

« On the gourmet side, I love the crème de cassis from Jean-Baptiste Joannet in Arcenant, a small village located 20 minutes from Brochon. This is an artisanal blackcurrant cream, recognizable blind! The house, which produces its own fruit, also offers jams, nectars and coulis. In a completely different type, I am very much a fan of the work of Atelier 11/10th, based in Corcelles-les-Arts, a small hamlet in the Côte de Beaune. It is a collective that works metal and wire to produce art crafts, many of which are inspired by the world of wine. We also cracked on several pieces that can be found in the house!”»
My favorite event by Camille Cluny
This is the Musique au Chambertin festival, whose artistic director is the great trumpet player Thierry Caens. The festival, which is part of the program of the Musical Festival of the Grands Crus of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, takes place every year at the time of the harvest, offering classical music concerts in different places of the Côte de Nuits, such as the Clos Vougeot, the Château de Brochon or the Château de Marsannay, as well as the «Promenades en pinots», walks in the vineyards combining a musical performance and a wine tasting. It is magical!”
